Ready to love again
A little history on how we decided to get a dog, again.
About 2 years ago, we lost our forever beloved Sophia. She was 13 year old Shih-Tzu. We were devastated and It felt like our hearts was shatterd into a million pieces. At first, the idea of getting another dog felt as if we were replacing her. And we didn’t want that. So, we waited!
Time passed and day by day we started healing. About 2 years later we decided we were ready to love again. :)
How we decided on a Sheepadoodle
2020 was a real POS year!
With us being at home more we started noticing that our cat Shish was not as happy without a buddy. So the idea of having a dog in the house again would benefit him and us.
At times just the thought of having a dog was difficult to process. But one day we met our friends dog Scout. A beautiful Goldendoodle and after a few hours hanging out with her, I realized that I was ready to love again.
After a second encounter with Scout I said the magic words to my husband - “ I think I’m ready to have a dog”. He immediately concurred.
A second after saying those words out loud, I began to research about doodles. After browsing the internet for hours, we conclude on Sheepadoodle. The combination of admiration for poodles and nostalgic feeling the Old English Sheep Dog seemed like a perfect fit.
Side note: Growing up in Brazil in the 90’s, there was a TV puppet show that the main character was an Old English Dog named Priscilla. Look it up :D
Welcoming Cub
After days looking for a dog during a pandemic year, I finally found a family that still had available puppies. We immediately put down a deposit and waited about 7 weeks to bring him home.
When I first saw him, I melted. He was so tiny and mellow and smelled so good. When we arrived at the house, Shish (Cat) was curious right away. I think he could sense that something was coming.
He was very patient with Cub from day one.
Cooking with Cub
We Love to eat and cook, that means we spend a lot of time in the kitchen. And that means that Cub is always looking for an opportunity to score a snack.
It’s funny and chaotic. We were used to small dogs that can be easily managed and can’t reach the counters. With cub it has been a learning experience. At times I think the training is more for me, than him.
We love to give him healthy treats like fruits and veggies. And because he is still a puppy everything is new to him, in which make it a fun experience for all of us.
