My first allergic reaction

This little guys has had a rough couple of days πŸ˜‘ hard to say but we think he got stung or bit by a bug and got an allergic reaction. On Sunday I discovered his πŸ₯œπŸ₯œ sack (he was neutered in aug) was swollen and red. I called the vet and they told me to just keep an eye on him since he had no other symptoms. He was fine all day Monday but at night he started rubbing his face on the couch and rugs. At about 9pm I noticed one of his eyes were swollen and it being to worsen as time when on.

Around 3am I got up because we couldn't settle down and upon turn the lights on i noticed his lips and eyes were puffy. Concerned we took his to an emergency animal hospital to get him checked out. We waited over 3 hours to be seen. During our wait some of the swelling on his eyes reduced. When the vet arrived to see Cub, she said he seemed fine despite the swelling and sent us home with instructions to give him Benadryl and observe for improvements.

After getting back from the emergency vet he ate breakfast, took two 25mg benadryl (appropriate for a 60lb dog) and spent all day on the couch recovering. The swelling began to let up after a few hours. He vomited once and had some diarrhea in the mix but he's feeling better today.

Needless to say we didn't sleep at all Monday to Tuesday, but last night all of got a good night sleep. Cub woke up in good spirits today and his face is back to normal.

And that's our Monday and Tuesday story for you guys. Glad it's Wednesday 😜

A lesson for doggy parents - be sure to have Benadryl in your household. We had to make a trip to Seven11 at 1am to buy someπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
