Bust all the equipment it's cleaning time
So friends, what do you do when you get an email from your dog daycare warning you about a Giardia outbreak??!?
Well, besides calling the vet immediately and booking an appointment to have Cub tested the next thing for me was to bust all the cleaning equipment to ensure our house was not contagious to our cat and us considering Giardia is transmissible to humans.
I tackled my cleaning by assessing the areas where Cub spends most of his time… on the couch and living room rug. I used my spot cleaner to wash all the cushions. Then I sprayed each cushion with a homemade solution containing part rubbing alcohol, water and fabric softener. Afterwards, I used my steam cleaner to ensure all bacterias we're killed. I follow the same process on the area rug too.
I made sure his water fountain and food bowl were cleaned and sanitized daily, and per the vets recommendation, I used doggie wipes to clean off his bottom after each time he went potty. I also, bathed him every two days during a 10 day period. Cub was on treatment for 7 days and tested Giardia negative after two weeks.
I think these cleaning equipments are absolutely necessary for every pet owner that wish to maintain a clean home.
Take that Giardia… I kicked your butt 😁
